Babies Love Breweries
Post by Ben - 10/3/2024
There is an art to taking a baby to a brewery. Are you meeting your childless friends to introduce them to your little person? Are you killing time before afternoon storytime at the library? Are you taking the grandparents to lunch so you can have a little outing after a rough night? You need to feel comfortable, know what your baby can handle and always make the most of any outing (you need to get out of the house, believe me). Here’s some cool breweries that may help you find what you need.
Salud Cervecería - NoDa
Every baby meets your childless friends at Salud. It might as well have that jutting rock from the Lion King to hold up your little cub and let them cheer. It’s got great beer and wine for everyone, delicious pizza, and chill vibes early in the evening. Your friends can stick around after your baby tracker app tells you to go home and get a little wild, or keep moving to other bars or breweries. Everyone gets what they need.
Resident Culture - Plaza Midwood
Oh man, this is a great in between spot for your baby if they are going to be awake. Lots to see (gotta love those shiny tanks). Good changing stations in the bathrooms. Dogs everywhere. It seems to have that magic place thing where it’s always busy but never seems crazy or overloaded. And good parking in Plaza Midwood so you can unload that little carrier seat.
Town Brewing - Wesley Heights/ West Morehead
Plenty of good food and good beer and space means this is a great place to take your baby if you have bigger kids too who need some space to move around or maybe some grandparents in tow. Parking and changing tables? They have them. You can really make it a long trip if your baby likes to sleep on porches (this is a very real sub-type of baby). Watch the game, drink a beer (maybe try a Spratt’s and see if you are dad beer drinker yet, it isn’t immediate, they have great IPAs), take care of your little person, go home and get some sleep (this is a funny joke parents like to tell).
Burial - House of Relics - Plaza Midwood
Okay, don’t panic, your cool coworker wants to meet for a beer this weekend. You have a baby and have not left the house in like three weeks. Put on a clean shirt, pack up the stroller and go to Burial. Your coworker might say something like, “Wow, I’ve never seen this place in the daylight,” but just ignore it. Look around? You see all those other babies (there are always lots of babies during the day in Burial)? They are on your turf. Checkmate, you are a cool parent.
Hi-Wire Brewing - South End
This great spot in South End makes it easy to see friends with lots of kids or dogs and spend an afternoon or early evening with your who crew. Everyone can find something fun at Hi-Wire and you can run down the road and get a big pizza at Benny Penello’s or dumplings at The Dumpling Lady. You can eat like a grown up and not by the refrigerator light They even have a good selection of non-alcoholic stuff if a nursing mom is on the clock.
