Hops and Hearts

Post by Scott - 2/13/2025

I’d describe myself as Valentine’s Ambivalent. It’s a fine holiday! I’ve never surprised my wife with a horse drawn carriage ride, but I’ve also never straight up forgotten or ignored it. Take a nice Friday night and elevate it and you’re good to go. Man, I’m going to find out the hard way that she really wanted that sunrise hot air balloon ride. Until then, treat your someone special to something special with these brewery events happening this weekend. But no cards. Cards are a racket and the worst!

Friday

For just $20, sample 4 chocolates from the Secret Chocolatier with 4 of Pilot’s most decadent beers. If you really want to make a night of it, get a smorgasbord of take out treats with no reservations needed from Milkbread, Calle Sol, and Cheat’s Cheesesteak for dinner.

Beer and chocolate go so well together. Enjoy 4 beers paired with 4 chocolates from Marvin’s Chocolates. You have to love a place that specifically advertises a low key Valentine’s Day. You’re speaking my language!

For $45, you each get an entree from the special menu and 2 drinks each. That’s an absolute steal! Then test if your arm is as strong as your love with a couple’s steinholding contest.

The focus of this show is crushes: First crushes, man crushes, crushes just for the sake of crushes. Laugh along as we explore the highs and lows of falling head over heels for someone, even if they never know it. Order some pizza and a cocktail and wonder if you were anyone’s first crush.

  • Y2K Valentine’s DJ Dance - Lore Brewing

Listen to Gin and Juice while drinking a Djin and Juice. This might as well be my high school prom and college party mix. If the DJ can’t make it, I have some mix CDs in my massive Case Logic CD wallet with songs I downloaded off of Napster and LimeWire.

Saturday

  • Galentine’s Brunch and Shop - Traust Brewing

Sip a mimosa or Bloody Mary and shop local vendors at Traust. While away the day with brunch, beers, and a stroll down Main Street in Mount Holly. I made my first trip to Traust a few weeks back (review is coming) and loved downtown Mount Holly!

For just $24.99 in advance ($30 day of), get a flight of 4 specialty beers, 6 mini donuts from Donut I Love, a Valentine Ornament, and a Koozie filled with candy. What more could you need? I might just treat myself to this deal!

Chocolate. Cocktails. Sure, they’ll have great music from Ellie Morgan, Belgian chocolate and beer flights, and plenty of Big O, but if I just said to my wife, “chocolate cocktails”, the argument would already be made.

Armored Cow

A koozie filled with candy, you say? Sold. Although, I do not know where the Valentine’s ornament will go. Some sort of flu season tissue tree?
