Beer Run

Post by Scott — 1/16/2024

There’s no clear line for when running becomes your personality, though your running short length and willingness to sacrifice toenails are key indicators. Whether you’re a runner, someone who likes to run, or just getting into it, everyone can join a run club. Meet new people, run in new areas, and find the pace group perfect for you. Check out this list of Charlotte area brewery run clubs with a few shoutouts and find the perfect one for pounding pavement and then pounding a beer.

Monday

  • The Summit Beer Shop (Mount Holly) - Jogger for Lagers

5:30 PM

While not a brewery, this bottle shop just over the Catawba River has all your favorite local beers, plus wine and a great rotation of food trucks. Head to Gaston County on Monday night for a fun run and even better atmosphere. Come back for Wu Wednesdays and debate if Cappadonna is really a member of Wu Tang.

  • Kit’s Trackside Crafts (Pineville) - Pineville Run Club — 6:30 PM

  • Heist Brewery (NoDa) - Heist Brewery Run Club — 6:30 PM

Tuesday

  • Hoptown Brewing (Mooresville) - Hoptown Run and Walk Community — 6:15 PM

  • Grove Cartel Brewing (China Grove) - Running from the Cartel — 6:15 PM

I’m pretty sure I hold my arms like a velociraptor. Not a good look. Join up with the Running Raptors for a few laps around South End. Stay for pizza, beer, or cocktails.Grab a little ice cream from the Seemingly Overzealous freezer. I’m pretty sure you earned it!

  • Great Wagon Road Distilling (NoDa) - Great Wagon Road Run Club — 6:30 PM

  • OpenTap (Carmel) - OpenTap Run Club — 6:30 PM

Wednesday

  • Southern Strain Brewing (Concord) - Southern Strain Run Club — 6:15 PM

Years ago, my wife and I ran in the NoDa Brewing 5k. We trained for it, but she was miserable the whole race and ended up walking to the finish. She looked at me and said, “Either I’m out of shape or I’m pregnant.” Come for the run and I’ll point out the exact spot where I realized we were having another kid.

  • Legion Brewing (SouthPark) - Legion SouthPark Run Club — 6:30 PM

  • The AutoPour (Madison Park) - Pour Decisions Run Club — 6:30 PM

Thursday

  • Uwharrie Brewing (Albemarle) - Uwharrie Brewing Running Club — 5:30 PM

  • New Sarum Brewing (Salisbury) - New Sarum Run Club — 6:00 PM

With the best greenway access in all of Charlotte, this run club is a no brainer. Follow the trekkers on the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Afterwards, cool down on the massive porch with their new Tortuga Juicy IPA. Make sure to check out the tap room decor; It’s like the Disney Jungle Cruise queue, but in a brewery.

  • Olde Meck Brewing (Ballantyne) - Ballantyne Running Club — 6:30 PM

  •  The AutoPour (Madison Park) - MadPark Run Club — 6:30 PM

  • Pour 64 (Mint Hill) - Pour 64 Run Club — 6:30 PM

Saturday

Hear me out: 8 AM is early on a Saturday, but this is how to kick off the weekend. Get up, get the exercise out of the way and come back to Salud for coffee, brunch, Premier League soccer, and, yes, beer. You’ll do more before noon than most people do all day so that afternoon nap will feel even better.

Sunday

NoDa Brewing

I miss running with a stroller. I want everyone’s achilles to be in fear.
